Today’s Advanced Transplant Provider: Key Players on the Transplant Team

With the importance of effective communication between medical and surgical physicians and across the interdisciplinary transplant team, ASTS is offering a session directed toward the unique needs of Advanced Transplant Providers.
This program is targeted for Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Allied Health Specialists, as well as departmental/institutional faculty, fellows, residents, medical students, and nurses in the medical specialties of abdominal transplant surgery, hepatology, nephrology, pharmacy, infectious disease, and internal medicine. The curriculum has been created and will be taught by Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Pharmacists.
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to demonstrate increased knowledge and competence of surgical and clinical practice in terms of the current standards and guidelines for the management of transplant patients. Participants will gain increased understanding of pharmacological management of opportunistic diseases associated with immunosuppression, pharmacogenetics, and the new treatments for Hepatitis C viral infection, as well as assessment and management of geriatric transplant patients.
