Patient Voice Initiative

Patient Voice Initiative

Mission Statement – Establish a diverse representation of transplant patients and families whose experiences, expertise and voice will inform and improve transplant processes, policies and transparency in a patient-centric fashion.

Vision – The ASTS Patient Voice Initiative (PVI), a voluntary patient advocacy program, was launched in late 2024, via direct patient contact at a small number of US transplant centers. Thus far, more than 300 patients have stepped forward to participate in this inaugural ASTS endeavor.

Objectives:

  1. Provide patients with an avenue for input into transplant processes
  2. Give patients transparency to current processes and those on the horizon
  3. Leverage patient voices to provide government with insights into patient needs
  4. Inform ASTS endeavors and mission in a patient-centric fashion
