Saving and improving lives with transplantation

ASTS advances the art and science of transplant surgery through
patient care, research, education, and advocacy.

Message From The President

February 2024
February is a very important month for transplant professionals, as it coincides with two significant celebrations. This month is Black History Month, which is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of Black transplant professionals, while also recognizing and addressing the health disparities that exist for black and marginalized individuals in our field. It is also American Heart Month, and I want to highlight the work of our thoracic surgeons, who perform the life-saving heart and lung transplants for some of the most critically ill patients.
