Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council

The Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council serves the public and healthcare community by promoting excellence and professionalism through education, accreditation, and certification.

Program Accreditation

Accreditation provides validation that a training program meets prescribed high standards and is a seal of approval formally recognized the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) and others.

Fellowship Training Programs

The Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council accredits transplant surgery fellowship training programs throughout North America. Programs can be accredited in kidney, liver, pancreas, intestine, hepatobiliary, and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. 

Purpose

  • To improve the safety and quality of transplant care.
  • To develop and maintain high standards of excellence by rigorous evaluation and accreditation of training programs.
  • To establish professional standards through examination and certification of transplant surgeons

Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council Members

The Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council (TACC) was established by ASTS in January 2017 to oversee accreditation functions and to develop a pathway for fellow certification. 

 

Academic Universe

The ASTS Academic Universe houses the National Transplant Surgery Curriculum, part of every ASTS surgical fellow’s training, as well as the surgical log and activities for CME credit.
