Abdominal Transplant Surgeon
Career Certification Pathway

Eligibility: 

For candidates whose primary surgical career is in Abdominal Transplant Surgery and completed an ASTS or TACC Accredited Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship Training Program from 1998 to 2018. Candidates must also have an active (non-expired) license to practice.

If you completed fellowship since 2019, please refer to the Fellowship Certification Pathway.

Certification Assessment: 

Eligible candidates who complete the application will be able to register to take the Certification Assessment. The assessment is a written exam and the fee is $1,250. The first assessment will be offered in Spring 2023. 

Application: 

The application will open in September 2022. The application fee is $250.  Applicants will need to provide their Certificate of Completion from fellowship training or an attestation from their Fellowship Training Program, submit surgical case logs from the past two calendar years prior to the application (maximum of 100 cases). Candidates applying for certification must add their surgical log cases to the ASTS surgical log. Please email TACC@asts.org to be added to the Career Certification cycle. 

Certification: 

Candidates who successfully complete all requirements of the Career Certification Pathway will receive the designation of Certified Abdominal Transplant Surgeon and will be a diplomate of the Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council. A list of certified individuals will be available on the TACC website. 

Abdominal Transplant Surgeon
Career Recognition Certification Pathway

Eligibility: 

For individuals whose primary surgical career is in Abdominal Transplant Surgery with a minimum of 20 years in practice and/or completed their ASTS Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship Training Program prior to 1998. 

Application: 

The application fee is $250. Applicants will need to submit a personal narrative of their career in transplantation and a completed career validation form from a peer. 

Certification: 

Candidates who successfully complete all requirements of the Career Recognition Certification Pathway will receive the designation of Certified Abdominal Transplant Surgeon and will be an Honorary Diplomate of the Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council. A list of certified individuals will be available on the TACC website.
