Saving and improving lives with transplantation

ASTS advances the art and science of transplant surgery through
patient care, research, education, and advocacy.

Message From The President

September 2025

The plan for OPTN Modernization, initiated in 2023, was welcomed by the transplant community with hope of a more efficient and effective transplant ecosystem for our patients and practitioners. While progress has been made to date, an important area of concern is the limited data acquisition by the OPTN in our transplant field despite burgeoning data needs and opportunities.
