The causes of variability in access to kidney transplantation are multilevel (health system, provider, and patient levels) and multifactorial.
There is substantial variation in access to each step of the kidney transplant process across the nation, as well as among dialysis facilities in the NY region.
Ongoing efforts in ESRD Network 1,2,6, and 9 seek to routinely collect data on early transplant steps-data missing from national surveillance data-to better understand barriers and facilitators to transplant access and inform interventions to address inequities.
