How the SRTR Risk Adjustment Models Work and Impact Program Evaluations

Purpose:

This webinar is meant to educate transplant program and organ procurement organization (OPO) personnel on how the SRTR evaluations account for "risk" when assessing transplant program and OPO performance. SRTR currently supplies the OPTN with risk-adjusted assessments of first-year transplant outcomes along with risk-adjusted assessments of donor yield. These evaluations take into account different case mixes across transplant programs, and different donor characteristics across OPOs using a set of statistical models. This session is meant to provide a high-level understanding of how "risk" is calculated and accounted for, what factors are considered (and not considered), how the risk-adjustment process works, and what resources are available from the SRTR. The session is tailored to an audience with little or no statistical background.

Nursing contact hours awarded.
