DEI Committee Chair, Anthony Watkins, MD, FACS, Awarded with the Dr. Velma P. Scantlebury Outstanding Achievement in Transplant Surgery Award
Chair of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, Anthony Watkins, MD, FACS was recently awarded the prestigious Dr. Velma P. Scantlebury Outstanding Achievement in Transplant Surgery Award at the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation’s (AMAT) 32nd Annual Conference.
A visionary in the fight against disparities in organ donation and access to transplantation for underrepresented communities, Dr. Watkins has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to equity through his work as the founder of the groundbreaking African American Transplant Access Program at Tampa General Hospital. As Chair of the DEI Committee at ASTS, he continues to champion initiatives that drive progress and equity in the field of transplantation.
