SUS Mid-Career Academic Surgery Professional Development Course

The Society of University Surgeons is pleased to offer its second annual course for Mid-Career Academic Surgeons seeking new leadership opportunities to be held on February 2nd-3rd, 2014 in San Diego, CA immediately prior to the Academic Surgical Congress. This is a unique professional development offering for individuals who are interested in optimally preparing for success as they move into new roles in departmental and health center leadership. This course will have a high level of interactivity and discourse, and therefore will be capped at 50 participants. The course was over-subscribed last year and received fantastic reviews so interested participants are encouraged to register today. There will also be a special optional networking dinner on February 2nd for a night of extended conversation. Additional information on the course, dinner, special room rates at the course hotel, and registration can be found at the SUS website or click here.

New additions to the course this year:

  • Search Firm participation to demystify the recruitment process for academic leadership positions
  • Facilitated session by professional coach on conflict management and managing others
  • Facilitated small group exercise focused on resolving real-life challenges faced by leaders in academic surgery
