Nov 23, 2015, 11:52 AM by User Not Found

Phase V of the National Hospital Organ Donation Campaign began Oct. 28th. ASTS is a National Partner in the HRSA-led Campaign that encourages hospitals to implement activities to promote organ, eye, and tissue donor registration. Hospitals can earn national recognition for participating.

Since 2011, the Campaign has brought together organ procurement organizations, eye banks, Donate Life America affiliates, hospitals, and hospital associations to educate hospital staff, visitors, and community members about the importance of becoming an organ, eye, and tissue donor. Thus far, the Campaign has added nearly 350,000 donor enrollments to state registries nationwide.

In Phase V, hospitals will count activities they conducted between May 1, 2015, and April 30, 2016, and earn points toward recognition. Phase V includes a platinum level recognition and a focus on small and rural hospital participation. The Phase V scorecard is available for download here; hospitals can also refer to the Ideas for Action.

Hospitals will be recognized by HRSA and the Campaign's National Partners for reaching platinum, gold, silver, or bronze activity levels. Last year, more than 730 hospitals and transplant centers were recognized for their accomplishments. For more information about participating, email donation@hrsa.gov.
