Business Practice Services Committee The mission of the Business Practice Services Committee is to assist ASTS members in understanding the business aspect of transplantation and to help them keep up with national trends in transplant practice management. ASTS business practice services facilitate members' understanding of the business aspect of transplantation, and provide education and guidance on transplant management and regulatory issues. Bylaws Advisory Committee The Bylaws Committee will make changes to bylaws based on direction from the ASTS Council and with the Council's approval. The committee will also annually review current bylaws and recommend revisions to the Council. Details Members
Cellular Transplantation Advisory Committee Investigators of cell and tissue transplantation share problems and research targets on topics such as organ and tissue allocation, procurement, separation techniques, culture methods, cryopreservation and banking, pretransplant immunomodulation, tissue engineering and devices, micro-and macro-encapsulation, tolerance induction, alternative sources of cell products (e.g. xenografts, stem cell derived sources) quality control assurance, current good tissue practices (cGTP), implantation sites and techniques, experimental and clinical transplantation, and gene therapy. Communications Committee To inform membership and transplant community on important issues regarding transplantation science and medicine through the ASTS website, the Chimera, scientific journals, mailings and e-mail communications. Details Members
Curriculum Committee To develop and improve the National Transplant Surgery Curricula and ASTS’ online educational resources, in order to enhance the training and certification of abdominal transplant surgeons and trainees in all phases of their career. Details Members
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee The mission of the ASTS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is to ensure balanced representation among under-represented and underserved minorities specific to organ donation and transplantation. Details Members

Ethics Advisory Committee The Ethics Advisory Committee is charged with considering ethical issues related to transplantation and organ donation. The Ethics Advisory Committee will provide input to the ASTS Council regarding the issues considered. The ethical issues will be considered in terms of their impact on patients, donors, their families, society and healthcare as a whole, cost and benefit, as well as their legality and acceptance from a public policy perspective. Fellowship Training Committee To ensure that clinical, professional, and scientific excellence are passed to future generations of transplant surgeons. To develop and champion a training framework that promotes lifelong learning, equity and inclusion in the transplant community, and compassion for ourselves, our colleagues and our patients. Grants & Awards Committee The mission of the Grants Review Committee is to support basic, clinical, and translational research performed in transplantation. The Committee will review and award applications for ASTS grants that support research performed by ASTS members, their trainees and collaborators. The Committee is responsible for providing advice, education and resources to trainees and members who are applying for funding from the broad range of granting organizations. Details Members
International Relations Committee To build relationships across the globe, have a clinical and scientific exchange, and create affiliative relations to optimize transplant access, organ donation, and solid organ transplant care worldwide. Details Members
Legislative and Regulatory Committee To address public policy issues and advocate for transplant surgeons and their patients. Details Members

Living Donation Committee to outline best practices to improve the safety and long-term care of the living donor, as well as develop informational materials to better inform potential donors and recipients on living donation. Details Members
Membership & Workforce Committee The committee is charged with the review process for all Regular and Associate applications. Additionally, the committee will organize outreach functions to under-represented groups such as residents and administrators. Beyond membership, the committee will focus its efforts on workforce needs, IMG experiences, and other issues impacting the membership. Details Members
Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee consists of Officers and Councilors-at-large. The Nominating Committee seeks recommendations from the general membership, carefully considers all nominees, and puts forward a ballot to eligible voting members that contains six candidates for the three councilor positions and three names for the secretary, treasurer, or DEI Officer position. Pediatric Advisory Committee The medical and surgical needs of children with organ failure are complex and distinct from those of adults. The pediatric committee seeks to promote education, research and policy advocacy to provide optimal care of children undergoing solid organ transplantation. Details Members
Pipeline Committee To ensure the future community of diverse and talented transplant surgeons by inspiring the rising generation of pre-medical and medical trainees to pursue transplant surgery as a career. Details Members
Professional Development Committee To identify gaps in ASTS’ educational offerings for members who are out of fellowship, including those covering innovations in the field. Details Members
Scientific Studies Advisory Committee The Scientific Studies Advisory Committee explores basic science and clinical issues in the field of transplantation. The committee aims to facilitate the dissemination of information regarding opportunities for collaboration in clinical studies. Details Members

Standards and Quality Committee To educate the membership about quality, standards, policies, and regulations, and to promote the development of high standards and quality in organ procurement, transplantation, patient safety, and performance improvement. Details Members

Thoracic Organ Transplantation Committee The Thoracic Transplantation Committee seeks to propose and/or facilitate clinical and research initiatives aimed at increasing the number of thoracic organ transplants performed annually in the US yearly and improving the quality of life following heart/lung transplantation. Vanguard Committee The primary mission of the Vanguard Committee is to encourage involvement in the activities and initiatives of the ASTS by its junior members. The Vanguard Committee will provide opportunities for interactions between the Society’s leadership and its newer members, thus increasing the cohesive nature of the society. The Vanguard Committee will also develop new initiatives that are of particular interest to the junior members and to the Society as a whole. Details Members
Vascularized Composite Allograft Advisory Cmte Vascularized Composite Allograft refers to the transplantation of non-autologous vascularized peripheral tissues including skin, muscle, nerve, tendon and/or bone as a functional unit (e.g., a hand) to replace non-reconstructible tissue defects. VCA is viewed as one field that can be driven by orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, or transplantation surgery. The complexity of VCA mandates that this procedure be driven by surgeons and considered as an organ from a regulatory standpoint. Details Members
