RAPID: Real-time Analytics and Process Improvement Dashboard - includes both real-time risk-adjusted, period-specific projected PSRs and CUSUMs for SOT

RAPID (Real-time Analysis and Process Improvement Dashboard) is a free and open-source software originally developed at Northwestern Medicine Comprehensive Transplant Center and distributed through the ASTS. RAPID provides outcomes and quality dashboards to individual transplant centers relevant to UNOS and SRTR reporting. The system is intended to be easily extensible and sufficiently generic to support any future evolution to center specific or SRTR reporting.

RAPID Announcements

  • New RAPID version and support options available

    The new version includes the following new features:

    1. Updated to support the current January 2017 PSR
    2. The newly release SRTR 5-tier outcomes assessment is fully supported, including projections for future PSR cohorts.
    3. Ability to create custom cohorts to simulate future PSR performance

  • May 16, 2014 Updated RAPID Documentation

    RAPID 2014.5, release is now available! It now supports PSR released from 7/2012 – 1/2014. See release notes for more details.
  • April 10, 2014 New Beta Release

    A new beta of RAPID, 2014.4 (4/9/2014), is now available. Please see the Release Notes section for more details. Online documentation is in the process of being updated, but you are welcome to try the new beta. See posting in the user forum for download details. Documentation is presently being updated for the final release. Please do not hesitate to contact the developers if there are any issues.

  • April 8, 2014: New Release Coming Soon

    Beta testing is commencing this week for the next version of RAPID, and a new release is expected in the next couple of weeks. This will support the new SRTR PSR format. We have a made a change in the UNOS report to improve reliability and accuracy which breaks the original RAPID release.

    Effective the 1/2013, 7/2013, and 1/2014 SRTR PSR, the file format has changed. RAPID is being updated to support the new PSR format and new version will be announced soon.

Features

  • Automatically loads center-specific UNOS data (TCR/TRR/TRF) and SRTR program specific reports.
  • Audits discrepancies between UNOS and SRTR cohort data.
  • Provides real-time dashboards of current and future SRTR reports (O/E, O-E, and p value), including incomplete cohorts.
  • Updates as often as underlying UNOS and SRTR data is updated.
  • Provides export capabilities of dashboard data, suitable for additional analysis or reporting.
  • High performance – dashboards load on commodity servers and desktop computers.

Software development features

  • Has a full implementation of R, a standard statistics software, giving statisticians a native statistical interface to the underlying data and executes automatically with the dashboard.
  • Secured, authenticated, and audited access control to dashboard and data (HIPAA and federal Common Rule compliant).
  • Can be implemented locally at each transplant center, or implemented as a cloud-based system at Northwestern. Data stored at Northwestern is exclusively controlled by each center and subject to a business agreement contract. Data access is controlled and approved by the center and not Northwestern.
  • Stored in a common, extensible format that will facilitate collaboration and data sharing between transplant centers. Stored data is not limited to UNOS reported variables.
  • Common design of the database allows future queries, reports, and dashboards to be portable to all installations, without sharing the underlying center specific data, thus promoting collaboration between centers.
