The Fall 2018 Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy (LDN) Workshop took place November 2 – 3, 2018 at the University of Colorado Center for Surgical Innovation in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Trevor Nydam and Dr. Ty Diwan developed the two-day course which featured a live surgery viewing, didactic sessions, and hands-on cadaver lab. This course was limited to 10 attendees which allowed attendees to interact in a small group setting with the faculty members.
Thank you to the faculty members who contributed their time and expertise to make this a successful course: Drs. Trevor Nydam, Ty Diwan, Lloyd Ratner, Thomas Bak, Kendra Conzen, Thomas Pshak, and Elizabeth Pomfret.
“Learning from such a rich experience of the faculty was really a treat! The interactive nature of this workshop helped me learn from diverse perspectives. Another takeaway from this workshop is that going forward, I would do the arterial dissection after rotating the kidney medially, which I was not really doing before. I was very lucky to have Dr. Pshak help me in my case and the pearls of wisdom he gave during the procedure for Rt HALDN is something I am going to start doing in my practice. Overall, the workshop helped improve my technique and I cannot thank you all enough!” – Rajeev Sharma, MD
