Description: The ability for an individual to be able to designate their own wishes to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor can provide great relief and reassurance to a family in grief. However, there are times, the family may not agree with or support the individual’s decision and the interactions between the family, who is objecting to the patient’s wishes, and the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) and hospital, who are required to honor the patient’s legal decision, can become challenging and the dispute may escalate to a court of law. During this webinar we will be learning from two OPOs, each presenting a recent case, the outcomes, and their learnings.
