ASTS recognizes the integral role Advanced Transplant Providers play in the field of transplantation and now provides an opportunity to recognize your commitment to the profession.
ASTS offers a Certificate of Educational Achievement to Advanced Transplant Providers with a minimum of two years of experience in transplantation.
The program is designed to further your professional growth through a series of educational modules relevant to the various roles of ATPs in transplantation.
Why would I pursue a Certificate of Educational Achievement?
The Certificate of Educational Achievement allows you to be recognized for your commitment to the field of transplantation. It is a way to document your experience and knowledge as well as meet the CMS requirements for continued education and training. PAs can claim category 2 CME.
Prerequisites and Experience Requirement
Advanced Transplant Providers seeking the Certificate of Educational Achievement must meet a requirement of experience in the field of transplantation. PAs and NPs seeking the ATP Certificate of Educational Achievement must:
- have gained at least 4,000 hours of clinical experience (the equivalent of two years of full-time practice) working as Advanced Transplant Providers
- be able to offer proof of employment from the office of the Transplant Program Director (a letter attesting to at least two years' experience in the field of transplantation)
As a member of ASTS, there is no cost to complete the certificate program if you meet the required experience in the field of transplantation. If you are not currently a member of ASTS, you may apply for Associate Membership or you may complete the program for a one-time fee of $125 dollars. This Certificate is intended to certify training and experience. If you have not gained the prerequisite number of hours to apply for the Certificate you can still gain access to ASTS's online educational content by applying for membership/paying the one-time fee. Once you have gained the required number of hours you may apply for the Certificate and take the exam.
After enrolling in the program, submitting the required documentation, and paying the $125 administrative fee (waived for ASTS members), ATPs will have one year within which to complete all 32 educational modules and pass an exam in order to earn the Certificate of Educational Achievement. Estimated time to complete each module is around 30-45 minutes and the exam consists of 10 case study-based multiple-choice questions.
