This year, a team from UNOS IT will be onsite for the winter meeting to help reimagine the Imaging Capabilities and Candidate Search within DonorNet™.
If you are willing to volunteer to help develop these changes, please email email@example.com. You will be asked to commit to a 12-2 p.m. meeting on Thursday, about 15 minutes on both Friday and Saturday, and the concluding session on Sunday of the Winter Symposium.
Along with abdominal imaging, the imaging capabilities initiative will also include members with a thoracic transplant focus. "Candidate Search" will have a kidney focus and is described as:
"Centers often receive organ offers which are not acceptable for their highest ranking candidate but may be appropriate for another candidate on the match from their center. This new feature would allow centers to locate other appropriate candidates for a donor. For example, a kidney is not suitable for Candidate A but may be suitable for a candidate with less time on dialysis. This feature would allow the kidney program to quickly identify other kidney candidates on the match from their center with less dialysis time."
