American Society of Transplant Surgeons Career Development, Mid-Level Faculty, and Trainee Awards
Career development research awards available to junior faculty (Asst. Professor) within 5 years of appointment for basic, translational and clinical projects. Awards available also for established, mid-level faculty (Any level Professor) within 5-10 years of appointment.

AAS Research Fellowship Awards

Yearly award for junior faculty to supply research funds (direct costs only) at Asst. Prof. level within 5 years of completion of training. Trainee award also available for research funds or salary support. May be resident or fellow trainee.

Transplant Surgery Scientist Training Program (TSTP)
An NIH-funded two-year mentored research training program designed for academically-oriented postdoctoral MDs and PhDs interested in pursuing a career in transplantation and transplant surgery-related research. The T32 grant provides a stipend, tuition, fees for coursework, travel funds, and health insurance.

Yearly awards for junior faculty to supply research funds at Asst. Prof. level within 3 years of completion of training. Basic, translational, and clinical research awards available. Resident awards also available for research funds.

American Surgical Association Foundation Fellowship (Junior faculty) Award
Yearly awards for junior faculty to supply research funds at Asst. Prof. level within 5 years of completion of training. Basic, translational, and clinical research projects are eligible. Separate health policy award also available.

Doris Duke Foundation Clinical Scientist Development Award
Multiple large awards available to junior faculty within 4 years of appointment. Goal is to help transition to independent funding. Pre-proposal required and must pass local/home institutional review before invitation to next phase. 75% effort required.

National Kidney Foundation Junior Faculty Award
Multiple (5) awards available to junior faculty within 3 years of appointment. Awards are meant to support research on nephrology or related fields. Applicants must be trained in nephrology or "related fields."

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Advancing Research for Improving Outcomes of Cystic Fibrosis Lung Transplantation Awards
  • Research Grants: Funding up to $150,000 per year (for 2 years), plus eight percent (8%) indirect costs. A limited number of larger awards will be considered for funding up to $250,000 per year (for 2 years), plus eight percent (8%) indirect costs, with strong justification (e.g., animal models).
  • Pilot and Feasibility Studies: Funding of up to $75,000 for one year, plus eight percent (8%) indirect costs.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships: Funding of up to $46,250 for year 1 and $47,930 for year 2. Indirect costs are not permitted for postdoctoral fellowship awards.

American Heart Association Junior Faculty and Transition Awards
Multiple awards available to junior faculty within 4 years of appointment. Awards are provided for basic, clinical, and population science. Applications are often specific to regional affiliates (see link). Also Fellow to faculty transition awards and career development awards.

American Association for Study of Liver Disease Career Development and Liver Scholar Awards
Career development research awards available to junior faculty within 3 years of appointment. Awards are focused toward the study of liver diseases or physiology, clinical, translational, or specific to liver transplantation. Applicants and members required to be members of AASLD.

American Society of Transplantation Career Development, Achievement, Mentoring Awards
Career development research awards available to junior faculty (Asst. or Assoc. Professor) within 7 years of appointment for basic, translational, and clinical projects. Awards available also for established investigators (Assoc. or Full Professor) in basic and clinical projects.
