Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

The Comprehensive Transplant Center at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is seeking applicants for an unexpected opening in its multiorgan transplant fellowship for one or two years beginning January 2012. This multi-organ fellowship is approved by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and will provide comprehensive training in kidney, liver and pancreas transplantation, as well as laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy, vascular access, and hepatobiliary surgery. Recent prior solid organ transplant fellowship training is desirable. Northwestern’s abdominal transplant program offers training in one of the nation’s busiest transplant centers with a strong commitment to education and patient care.

University of Minnesota

MULTI-ORGAN TRANSPLANT FELLOWSHIP
UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MEDICAL SCHOOL
DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY

Applications are now being accepted for one position for a two-year advanced ASTS-approved training program in multi-organ transplantation at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.  Must be board certified, eligible, or equivalent in general surgery, and hold, or be eligible to obtain, a State of Minnesota medical license (see requirements at http://www.state.mn.us/portal/mn/jsp/home.do?agency=BMP).  Responsibilities include 24 months of specialty training in donor surgery, vascular access, and in kidney, pancreas and liver transplantation.  Successful candidates will be appointed as full-time yearly renewable non-tenure track Instructors in the Department of Surgery or, if on J-1 visa, as Medical Fellows.  The start date available is January 1, 2013.  The position will remain open until filled.

University of Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin Transplant Surgery Fellowship is seeking a clinical fellow beginning July 2012 for either one year of additional training in kidney and pancreas transplantation, laparoscopic kidney donation and organ procurement or a two-year ASTS approved multi-organ fellowship.  The University of Wisconsin's abdominal transplant program is one of the busiest programs in the US with a committment to training the next generation of transplant surgeons.  All applicants must have passed USMLE for Steps 1, 2 and 3 and be US-trained residents.  Applicants must be eligible for an H-1B visa, have or be eligible for a WI license, and be board certified or board eligible.

University of Virginia

The University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a Multi-organ Transplant Fellowship beginning July 1, 2012.  This 2 year multi-organ fellowship is approved by the ASTS.  UVA is a State, Level I Trauma Center, is an ACGME accredited General Surgery Residency program and supports a transplant fellowship. Training includes: liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation, organ procurement from deceased and living donors, evaluation of the donor, care of the pre-transplant candidate, back table organ preparation, inpatient care, immunosuppression, understanding outcomes after transplant, histocompatibility and cross-matching, outpatient follow up, ethics and pathology.  Applicants must be ECFMG certified and a general surgeon to apply.

Yale University School of Medicine

The Yale-New Haven Transplantation Center is seeking a fellow for advanced training in clinical liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation and HBP surgery for both adult and pediatrics. The fellowship is a two-year position beginning July 2011.

Training includes living donors for kidney and liver, split liver in adult and pediatrics. Clinical research opportunities are available.

The applicant must be board eligible or equivalent.
